On a recent podcast appearance, Vice President Kamala Harris reiterated her stance on marijuana legalization, marking the first time she voiced her support for the issue as the Democratic presidential nominee. The conversation took an unexpected turn afterward when Matt Barnes, co-host of the *All the Smoke* podcast, humorously admitted to getting high before the interview.

Barnes, a former NBA player and now a sports analyst, revealed during a guest spot on *The Dan Le Batard Show* that he “pregamed” with marijuana while preparing for his interview with Harris. “I smoked before I went. I pregamed as I was studying, just like I was watching game film,” Barnes joked. He clarified that he didn’t smoke at the actual interview but teased the idea of sneaking cannabis into the White House should Harris win the presidency. “If she wins, I was invited back, and I may try to sneak something in,” he quipped before quickly adding, “Nah, I’m playing.”

Barnes also discussed the more serious topics they covered with Harris, noting that he had wanted to dive into criminal justice issues related to cannabis but was mindful of the podcast’s audience. “We wanted to get into the weeds of stuff, but we only had 30 minutes,” Barnes said. He acknowledged the tension between discussing complex issues like criminal justice reform and keeping the conversation engaging for his listeners.

During the podcast, Harris restated her long-held belief that marijuana should be legalized, emphasizing that “people should not be going to jail for smoking weed.” She cited the Biden administration’s efforts to pardon individuals with past federal marijuana convictions, affirming her commitment to broader reform.

Harris’s stance on marijuana legalization continues to resonate, especially as cannabis policy remains a hot topic in national political discourse, with advocates pushing for broader reform across the country.
