Between the months of April and June of this year, California officials have seized 63,000 pounds of illegal marijuana across the state.

The Unified Cannabis Enforcement Task Force was created by Gavin Newsom in 2022 to clean up the illicit market in the state that has remained stubbornly active throughout the years.

The 63,000 pounds of weed was worth $104 million. They also seized 17 firearms, $220,923 in case, and arrested 24 individuals across 10 counties.

Before this three month crackdown, the Task Force has maintained a high level of activity. Over the years, they’ve seized more than 841,000 pounds of cannabis. This includes 1.3 million plants across the state.

The most recent and largest raid happened between May 14 and June 3 in Tulare and Kern counties. It included 26 search warrants.

The illicit market isn’t going anywhere as long as the taxes on legal weed in California remain high. But stats like these will definitely intimidate smaller growers from entering the fray.
