Amazon continues its push for Weed Legalization

If only Amazon had their own social media platform…

Continuing it’s vow to fight for weed legalization, Amazon has released a statement that further solidifies their opinion, written by Beth Galetti, their Senior Vice President of Human Resources.

One of the main announcements they make is that they have allowed previous employees who had been “previously terminated or deferred during random or pre-employment marijuana screenings” to be eligible for new employment.

We support legalizing cannabis at the federal level, and have endorsed the MORE Act and the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act championed by @SenSchumer, @RonWyden, & @SenBooker. Read more about our advocacy here: https://t.co/kh61DvalAc

In their past statements, Amazon had only endorsed the MORE act, which is the Cannabis legalization bill in the House. Now, they are announcing support for the Senate bill as well, the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act by sharing a letter sent to the leaders of Congress.

“Pre-employment marijuana testing has disproportionately affected communities of color by stalling job placement and, by extension, economic growth, and we believe this inequitable treatment is unacceptable,” the release states.

It’s encouraging to see Amazon consistently putting out language in support of legalization. Being the largest employer in the country, their pull is immense.
