In news that doesn’t surprise anyone, Washington D.C. voters are hugely in favor of Decriminalizing drugs (not just marijuana) and creating Safe Injection Sites in the city.

According to a new poll conducted by FM3 Research, 83% of citizens strongly or somewhat support decriminalizing drug possession.

NEW POLL: 83% of Washington, D.C likely voters support decriminalizing drugs in the nation’s capital.

Activists with @decrimpovertydc and @DrugPolicyOrg just launched a campaign to press the District Council to enact the broadly supported reform.https://t.co/SL4AU7EOUl pic.twitter.com/L5qQaBHkBY

Interestingly, when various pros and cons of full decriminalization was explained to those contributing to the poll, support dipped down to 77%. Not a huge dip, but telling in the sense that some may not be as progressive in their thinking towards drugs as they think.

The poll has a margin of error of +/-4.9%, and were done over the telephone or online with 402 likely voters this November, conducted between June 30 and July 8 of this year.

Here’s a link to the full poll memo.
